Coolant is disappearing without visible leaks
When the coolant level in the reservoir keeps dropping but there are no puddles under the car, the liquid is going somewhere inside. This usually means there are hidden leaks while driving, or coolant is getting into the engine, which is serious for its health.
Likely causes — most common first
Tiny cracks in hoses or radiator
Rubber hoses or the radiator itself can have barely visible cracks. Coolant seeps out as a thin film and evaporates instantly from the hot engine, leaving no puddles on the road.
Faulty expansion tank cap
The cap has a valve that keeps the system at the right pressure. If it sticks, hot coolant simply evaporates through it as steam while you drive.
Blown head gasket
If the gasket between engine parts wears out, coolant starts leaking into the cylinders and burns along with fuel, exiting through the exhaust.
Heater matrix leak
The heater radiator sits inside the car under the dashboard. If it splits, coolant slowly leaks under the carpets or evaporates into the ventilation.
Crack in the engine block or cylinder head
This is the rarest but most serious problem, where coolant seeps through a tiny crack in the metal engine into or out of hard-to-reach places.
